<p>A novel cross-linked polymer composition swelling in water which is excellent in the rate and amount of brine absorption under pressure. The composition comprises a mixture of a particulate cross-linked polymer which swells in water and is basic in water and a particulate cross-linked polymer which swells in water and is acidic in water. When water is present among the particles of the two particulate polymers, the polymers are united with each other through ionic bonds formed by the neutralization of at least part of the acid groups of the particulate polymer which is acidic in water with the particulate polymer which is basic in water.</p> |
