PURPOSE: To perform the sensorless control of a switching reluctance motor. CONSTITUTION: The motor control circuit of a switching reluctance motor 10, which includes a rotor, a plurality of stator coils 16, and a drive circuit 18 for exciting coils 16 in sequence, includes a current-sensing detector 32 for detecting the signal proportionate to the current in the coil 16, and a tilt detector 30 for detecting the rate of change of the current signal regarding the time extended for the preset interval controlled by the term, where the voltage within the coil 16 shows the counter electromotive force. A variable oscillator 22 reacts upon the integrated output of the tilt detector 30 for producing a timing signal for the drive circuit 18. When the voltage across the coil 16 is controlled by the counter electromotive force, the current essentially ought to be fixed.
