The multifunction circuit has a set of gates (400, 401-415) connected in series. In addition connecting switches (418-420, 422-424, 426, 428, 429, 432, 434, 435) are incorporated into the integrated circuit to allow configuration of the circuit to obtain one of an error detection circuit, a counter, or a shift register.
