An IPS(In-Plane Switching) mode LCD is provided to compensate for the ununiformity of left and right rotary momentums of liquid crystal molecules, thereby improving the ununiformity of brightness in a black state and increasing the contrast ratio, by using a pixel electrode and a common electrode each having an asymmetric structure based on a bent portion. A gate line(112) is formed on a first substrate. A data line(115) crosses the gate line to define a unit pixel region. A thin film transistor is formed at a crossing point of the gate line and the data line. A common line(125) is parallel with the gate line. A common electrode(124) is diverged from the common line, and has an asymmetric structure based on a bent portion thereof. A pixel electrode(117) is connected to the thin film transistor, and parallel with the common electrode. A second substrate is oppositely coupled with the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. |
