A method for displaying an elastic image is provided to output the optimum elastic image by changing a persistent value according to whether an average strain value is within a proper range. A method for displaying an elastic image includes the steps of: obtaining first ultrasonic data by transceiving ultrasonic signals along a plurality of scan lines without applying stress to an object with a plurality of tissues; obtaining second ultrasonic data by transceiving ultrasonic signals along the plurality of scan lines with applying predetermined stress to the object(710); calculating displacement of the plurality of tissues by using the first and second ultrasonic data(720); calculating strain for the elastic image by using the calculated displacement(740); forming the elastic image by using the strain and forming a graph to indicate a change of the tissues for each scan line(770); and displaying the elastic image and the graph(790).
