The first process is to start the main motor (60) affer setting the counter to a set value, and let the document support drive in the reverse direction while the pinion gear rotate reversely; the second process is to return the pinion gear (70) to reversely rotate when the counter value is not the first value after reducing by one value when the pulse from the gear detecting light sensor (10) does not output; the third process is returning the pinion gear (70) to positively rotate when the pulse from the detecting sensor (10) outputs, but if the counter value is not the second value after the counter value is not 2nd value; and the fourth process is to terminate the pinion gear (70) when counter value is zero affer the pinion gear (70) returned to the reversely rotating phase.
