The invention provides a bearing assembly fixed on an axle including an end axle section having a first diameter, a journal on the end axle section, a shoulder adjacent the journal, and a second larger diameter axle section adjacent the shoulder. The bearing assembly encloses the journal, and a fixing cap of the bearing is affixed to the axle end section to secure the bearing assembly on the journal. The bearing assembly comprises a backing ring adjacent the axle shoulder, a locking ring with an inner lateral end with the first radial diameter and an outer lateral end with the second radial diameter. The outer lateral end of the locking ring contacts the backing ring, and the inner lateral end of the locking ring contacts the second axle section; the backing ring has a flaring section, and the locking ring has an outer lateral cut-out. The flaring section of the backing ring fits the outer lateral cut-out of the locking ring. In the second version of the bearing assembly, the locking ring of the bearing assembly has an inner lateral end and an outer lateral end including a shoulder, wherein the outer lateral end of the locking ring contacts the backing ring, and the inner lateral end of the locking ring contacts the second axle section. The backing ring has an outer radial cut-out. The outer lateral shoulder of the locking ring fits the outer radial cut-out of the backing ring. |
