<p>PURPOSE: To adsorption-remove SO2 efficiently from SO2 -containing fluid by bringing SO2 -containing fluid into contact with an aqueous solution consisting of a heterocyclic compound of the specific general formula having a diamine construction to adsorb SO2 . CONSTITUTION: Fluid containing SO2 is brought into contact with an aqueous solution of a compound of the formula [X is O, NR<1> or N, Y is CR<2> , CO, O, NR<1> , N, C (R<2> ) (wherein R<1> or R<2> is hydrogen, an alkyl group, a hydroxyalkyl group, an aldehyde group or the like) and m is an interger of 1-4] to adsorb/ remove SO2 in the fluid. Preferable examples of the compounds of the formula are 2-oxazolidone, 3-methyl-2-oxazolidone, 3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-oxazolidone or the like. A concentration of an aqueous solution of the compound as an absorbent is preferably at least 0.1% by weight, and the contact with the fluid is preferably conducted by adsorbing SO2 at 1-120 deg.C. Also, the absorbent aqueous solutions after contact-treating preferably can be thermally regenerated at 75-150 deg.C to remove SO2 .</p> |
