Provided is a device for conveying a long work piece, whereby damage to a component such as a conveyance roller can be prevented, and adverse effects on the external peripheral surface of the work piece by such damage can be avoided. The present invention relates to a device for conveying a long work piece, the device being provided with a plurality of receiving/sending members arranged at intervals along the conveyance direction, and the device being configured so that a long work piece W is conveyed along the length direction thereof while being supported by the plurality of receiving/sending members in sequence. Each receiving/sending member is supported so as to be able to be raised and lowered between an elevated position where the receiving/sending member can support the long work piece W and a lowered position below the elevated position, where the receiving/sending member does not interfere with the long work piece W. Each of the receiving/sending members is configured so as to be arranged in the lowered position when the distal end of the long work piece W is passing over, and so as to be arranged in the elevated position so as to touch the external peripheral surface of the long work piece W and support the long work piece W after the distal end of the long work piece has passed over. |
