PURPOSE:To provide a plastic element having fine grooves engraved on the surface and useful for growing a nerve fiber along the pattern of the fine grooves. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum 2 is metallized on a plastic plate 1, a photoresist 3 is applied to the metallized layer, a photo-mask 4 is placed thereon and the resist is exposed to light through the mask. The exposed part of the resist is removed with a developing liquid to form a resist pattern 5. The exposed metal layer is etched with an etching liquid. The resist pattern 5 remaining on the metal layer after etching is washed off with a solvent. The obtained plastic plate 1 having the pattern of the metal layer 6 is treated with an enzyme-reactive ion-etching process and the metal layer is removed with an etching liquid.
