PURPOSE:To provide a surface treating method for nickel hydroxide positive electrode plate possible to remove a fixed quantity of a nickel compound mainly consisting of nickel hydroxide on a positive electrode plate surface within a short time and optionally regulate the treating quantity. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode plate formed by charging an active material consisting of nickel hydroxide in a porous nickel base plate such as a sintered nickel porous body or three-dimensional nickel porous body having a band steel obtained by plating iron with nickel is subjected to anode oxidation by applying a constant voltage thereto in a nitric acid solution having an optional pH value to treat its surface. |
