As a growth-promoting animal feed supplement is employed the antibiotic moenomycin derived from the mycelium of Streptomyces. 0.1-50 mg. of moenomycin is incorporated in 1 kg. of feed. The examples are of tests on chicks and include comparisons with zinc bacitracin, penicillin and chlorotetracycline. The moenomycin may be obtained by the process of Specification 977,327. |
