PURPOSE:To obtain a photographing lighting device with less illuminance fluctuation and a long lamp life by providing a plurality of high voltage discharge lamps such as metal halide lamps and a polyphase AC power source for supplying respective phase outputs to the lamps. CONSTITUTION:Lighting sources 3, 4, 5 are formed of a plurality of, for example, three high-voltage discharge lamps such as metal halide lamps having lamp lives several times a halogen lamp, and each lamp is lighted by each phase output shifted by 120 deg. from the phase of a polyphase, or three-phase AC power source 9 in this case. As the flicker phase accompanying AC supply lighting is shifted in each lamp, the illuminance fluctuation is remarkably reduced, and the device can effectively be applied to, particularly, the static image photographing of a high-speed moving subject 2 such as a running vehicle. |
