PURPOSE: To avoid generation of an optical interference fringe. CONSTITUTION: A high pressure sample holder for infrared ray absorption spectral record partially fills a gasket 16 for largely compressing between two diamond anvils 12 and an optical passage 24 passing through the gasket at a position between the two anvils, and contains infrared ray beam transmission material leaving a sample space 28 for transmitting an infrared raybeam in the neighborhood of one anvil.
