PURPOSE:To produce in industrially profitable manner the subject novel compound having a silyloxy group and useful as a synthetic intermediate by reacting a specific cyclic carbonate compound with a silyl ether in the presence of a fluoride salt catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A cyclic carbonate compound of formula I [W is 2-10C methylene chain (the H atoms of the methylene chain may be substituted with methyl groups), orthophenylene) (e.g. 2,2-dimethyltrimethylene carbonate) is reacted with a silyl ether of formula II (R<1> is methyl, ethyl, benzyl, phenylethyl; R<2> is methyl, ethyl, t-butyl) in the presence of a fluoride salt catalyst (e.g. tetrabutylammonium fluoride) to produce the objective silyloxy group-containing compound of formula III (e.g. ethyl-3-trimethylsilyloxy-2,2-dimethyltrimethyl carbonate). |
