A vacuum - cleaner motor fan unit is resiliently supported in a housing 10 by a resilient ring 67 which is clamped to an inwardly-projecting flange 62 by a ring 66 which has axially-projecting brackets 68 having holes through which radially-projecting portions 75 of the resilient ring abut the outer surface 85 of the motor casing. Flange 62 extends inwardly from a bulkhead 60 secured to the housing, and the metal ring 66 and the rubber spacing-ring 67 are bolted to it by three bolts 64. The ring 66 includes three brackets 68 (Fig. 3) having axially-extending portions 70 shown in Fig. 4. Integral with the resilient ring 67 are three equispaced resilient blocks 74 carrying the radial projections 75, these extending through apertures 72 in axial portions 70. The apertures and projections are elongated axially, the projections being narrower than the apertures. Studs 80 pass through rectangular washers 86 and holes 78 in the blocks and engage with a threaded hole 82 in boss 83 on the motor frame 30. A skirt 92 and bead 94 integral with the resilient ring bears hermetically against the motor frame and serves together with the ring to prevent recirculation of air. The resilient ring includes lips 96 which engage recessed ridges in the ring 66. Holes 90 make the rubber projections 75 more resilient. The two-stage fan circulates the suction air through the motor for cooling, as shown by arrows 53, 55.</p> |
