1,055,368. Selective embossing tools. DYMO INDUSTRIES Inc. April 6, 1965 [Aug. 17, 1964], No. 14470/65. Heading B6F. In a hand-operated embossing tool having a strip fed through it for embossing the amount of feed can be adjusted. This is effected by a pair of ratchet-wheels 26, 27, each having a different number of teeth and rotatively fixed but axially slidable relative to a feed roller 33 covered with a rubber band 34 and extending into a strip guide channel 14. The axial movement of the ratchet-wheels is set by a knob 22 (also used for hand strip feeding); it is retained in either position by spring and detent 48, 49. Splines 36 and grooves 37 permit the axial movement. To assist the axial shift of the ratchet wheels 26, 27 for alignment with a pawl 24, actuated on return of one of the tool operating levers, an annular cam rib 52, Fig. 6-9 (not shown) is formed between the two ratchets. The embossing dies are removable so characters of different sizes may be used. |
