[Also in Division F2] A fastener made by moulding deformable plastics material comprises a head 1 with four rectangular posts 11, a shank having a portion 6 of rectangular section and a closed tubular end portion 7 with side fins 9. The fastener is inserted into a square hole in a support 14 so that the posts engaged in the corners and an apertured article 15 is placed over the head 1. When a self tapping metal screw 16 is inserted through the aperture in the article 15 into the head I the shank is drawn towards the article and the fins and shank rotate relatively to the stationary head, the ends of the fins bend outwardly securing the fastener to the support. The internal edges of the head and holes formed and the head during moulding may be filled with polyvinylchloride. |
