[Also in Division F2] A filter, in a hydraulic circuit in which the direction of flow is sometimes reversed, comprises filter elements (14) located' in individual housings 12 which extend from a distributor casing, having an inlet chamber 6 and outlet chamber 8. from which ports 16, 18 open into the housings, and a system of valves which insure that flow through elements (14) is always inwards whether passage 2 or passage 4 is temporarily serving as the inlet to the casing. In Fig. 1, ball 34 engages either of seats 40, 42, in chamber 6, and a spool valve 28, 30, 32 closes either end of chamber 8. Reversal of flow shifts the valves to their other positions, valve 28-32 being moved by pressure applied through passages 38, 46. Each filter housing may incorporate a non-return valve (22), and a by-pass valve combined with an indicator of the valve's position is connected between chambers 6, 8 (Fig. 3, not shown). In Fig. 4 (now shown) valve 28-32 is replaced by two separate non-return valves, and the casing is divided laterally so that additional sections (94), incorporating continuations of chambers 6, 8 and carrying additional filter housing(s), may be inserted between the end sections. Ball valve 34 may also be replaced by two separate non-return valves.</p> |
