1,066,361. Copy-turning. J. L. JEANNERET. April 15, 1964 [June 10, 1963], No. 15703/64. Heading B3T. A copying lathe comprises a tool support 3 movable axially and radially of the work 2, feeler means 6, movable axially with the support and radially displaceable thereon to control the movement thereof, first stop means 10 adjustable radially and interposable in the path of the feeler to limit its radial displacement and thereby determine the depth of cut, and second stop means 47, 48, 49 adjustable axially and interposable in the path of feeler movement to limit the length of the movement. The feeler 6 is carried on a lever 7 pivoted on supports 71 so that when the feeler contacts a template on an indexible support 5, the lever is rocked to actuate an hydraulic valve to control the toolslide movement. Alternatively, for roughing cuts, a block 9 on the lever 7 contacts one of the stops 10 on an indexible support 11 in order to limit the in-feed. The axial feed limit stops are adjusted by a caliper gauge and consist of blocks 47, 48, 49, Fig. 8 (not shown), on an axially-adjustable bar 44, one of the stops having an inclined shoulder 52b to chamfer an edge of the work. The supports 5 and 11 are indexed together by a motor 13. |
