Metal surfaces are lubricated with aqueous solutions of the total or partial neutralization products of amines selected from secondary and tertiary amines, polyamines, amino-alcohols and polyaminoalcohols and acids selected from citric, lactic, tartaric, C 2 -C 5 dicarboxylic and condensed phosphoric acids obtained by heating orthophosphoric acid (i.e. pyro, meta and polymetaphosphoric acids), said acids may or may not be employed in conjunction with boric, chromic and C 4 -C 10 monocarboxylic acids. The amino compound may also be partially neutralized by the gases formed during the reaction of a metal nitrate with a mineral acid. The composition may also contain the reaction product of chromic acid and cyclohexylamine or an alkali metal base, and silicones.</p> |
