PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material showing high developed color density, high color forming sensitivity and less fogging, by a method wherein an oil having a water solubility of not higher than 0.5 is incorporated into an aqueous dispersed liquid containing an electron-donative colorless dye and an electron-acceptive compound. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein an aqueous dispersed liquid containing an electron-donative colorless dye (color former) and an electron-acceptive compound (color developer) is applied to a base, an oil having a water solubility at 20 deg.C of not higher than 0.5 is incorporated into the dispersed liquid in an amount of 1-500pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the color developer. The oil is preferably one which sufficiently dissolve the color former and the color developer when being heated. An aromatic oil is preferred in view of less fogging, and particularly preferred are alkylnaphthalenes, diarylethanes and alkylated biphenyls. Accordingly, for a fixed electric current impressed on a thermal head, the heating period required for printing is reduced by 20-50%, as compared with the case in which no oil is added. |
