A glass or other panel 2 is secured in a frame 1 by means of mounting strips 10, 11 which are secured to the frame 1 by clamping elements 6 which have feet 5 engaging in a longitudinal dove-tail section groove 4 in the base of the frame each element 5 having resilient fingers 7 clamping the strips 10, 11 on the frame. The frame has integral ledges 14 engaging with ridges on the mounting strips which are sprung into position and held by the resilience of the fingers 7. The extensions 8, 9 of the mounting strips have ramps 15 so that the ends 12 of the fingers can run up them. The foot 5 is formed as an eccentric to engage the sides of the groove 4 and has two lugs 25 with bracing edges 26 which merge into clamping edges 27 and is of such dimensions that the foot is inserted in the groove 4 and given a quarter turn for the edges 26 to engage the sides of the groove. In an alternative construction the extensions 8, 9 are provided with notches (16' Fig. 3) which are engaged by notches (16) on the fingers. |
