Lightning protection system (200) for a rotor blade (108) comprises a conducting lightning receptor (201) for mounting on the surface (212) of the rotor blade in such a way that part (204) of the lightning receptor protrudes beyond the flow edge (210) of the rotor blade. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Rotor blade for a wind power station comprising the above lightning protection system; (2) Wind power station for generating electricity comprising the above rotor blade; (3) Process for generating electricity using the above wind power station; and (4) Process for protecting a wind power station from lightning strike using the above lightning protection system. Preferred Features: The lightning receptor is wire- or hair-shaped. The rotor blade structure is made of glass fiber- and/or carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.
