PURPOSE: To provide a method for treating a cellulosic product, paper or nonwoven article to impart oil and water repellency thereto, by applying, from an aqueous solution or emulsion to the cellulosic product, paper or nonwoven article, an effective amount of a specific fluorochemical compound to impart the oil and water repellency thereto without adding a cationic resin additive. CONSTITUTION: This method for treating a cellulosic product, paper or nonwoven article to impart oil and water repellency thereto comprises applying, from an aqueous solution or emulsion to the product, paper or non-woven article, an effective amount of a fluorochemical compound of formula I [Rf is a fluorine-containing 1-20C aliphatic group, a 2-12C perfluoroalkyl group substituted with a 2-6C perfluoroalkoxy group, or the like; L is carboxyl (salt) group, sulfonic acid (salt) group, a phosphate ester (salt) group, a group of formula II (M is H, an alkali metal, or the like), a group of formula III; G is a 4-24C alkanetetrayl, O, S, CH=CH, or the like] [for example, 5,5-bis(1,1,2,2- perfluorodecylthiomethyl)-2-hydroxy-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane triethanolamine salt]. |
