PURPOSE:To provide a composite ultra-fine powder useful as a raw material for ceramics having high performance such as high strength and high toughness and provide a process for producing the ultra-fine powder. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite ultra-fine powder is selected from the following composite ultra-fine powder (a), (b) and (c) obtained by dispersing atomic groups or clusters of a compound having a particle size of about 5-50nm in different kind of particles having an average particle diameter of about 50-500nm. (a) A composite ultra-fine powder produced by using SiC as the matrix and dispersing at least one kind of compound selected from AlN, B4C, etc., in the matrix, (b) a composite ultra-fine powder produced by using Si3N4 as the matrix and dispersing at least one kind of compound selected from AlN, B4C, etc., in the matrix and (c) a composite ultrafine powder produced by using AlN as the matrix and dispersing at least one kind of compound selected from SiC, B4C, etc., in the matrix. The composite ultra-fine powder is produced by irradiating raw material gas with combined laser consisting of a combination of laser beams having different wavelengths. |
