In a moving coil electromagnetic vibrator in which an output member 22, Fig. 1, carries a coil 20 located in an air gap in a stationary member 10, 15, 14, the output member is secured to the part 14 by rigid beams 30 connected to the parts 22 and 14 through resilient couplings, each comprising coaxial inner and outer members with a bush 40, Fig. 4, of rubber or like resilient material interposed between them. The bushes 40 may be hollow cylindrical in form, as shown, or hollow-spherical, Fig. 5 (not shown), and are surrounded by metallic sleeves 41, 42, the inner sleeves 41 being rigidly secured to the beams by bolts 44. The beams shown comprise laminations of metal and resin-bonded fibre; in a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), to facilitate removal of the output member and the coil 20, the output member is supported by two sets of beams (60, 61) mounted on a block (62) fixed to the stationary part 14. The beams each comprise a pair of flat plates, Fig. 8 (not shown), and the outer sleeves are located in bores in the output member (65) and block (62). Tightening bolts (71) are located in holes in the plates, these holes being eccentrically located relative to the axes of the inner sleeves 41, so that rotation of the bolts varies the effective length of the beams. Adjustment of the null position of the output member is effected by adjusting the angular positions of the beams relative to the metal sleeves before final tightening of nuts (72) on the ends of the bolts. |
