1,227,295. Organophosphorus derivatives. STAUFFER CHEMICAL C O . 22 April, 1969 [30 April, 1968], No. 20428/69. Heading C2C. Compounds of the formula where R is a C 1-20 radical which can contain halogen, ether, thioether, nitro or cyano substituents. X is oxygen or sulphur, W is a pseudohalide selected from CN, NCO and NCS and n and n<SP>1</SP> are 1 or 2, where the sum n + n<SP>1</SP> is not greater than 3 and the values of n and n<SP>1</SP> are such as to satisfy the valency of the pentavalent phosphorus atom, are prepared by reacting an organophosphorus halide of the formula where Hal is chlorine or bromine, with a salt of an appropriate pseudohalide in the presence of a catalytic amount of a tertiary amine. The catalyst is generally present in an amount of 0-5 to 5% by weight, and suitable pseudohalide salts are the Group I and II metal salt. The preferred temperature is between 0‹ and 125‹ C., and an inert solvent may be employed if desired. |
