A common continuously operating drive means 42 is selectively coupled to a plurality of tapes, wrapped to form supply and take-up rolls 11, 12, so as to feed the tapes in either direction at any of a predetermined plurality of speeds. As shown, each tape is contained in a cartridge 10 together with its driving idler 13 which engages one of a plurality of transfer rollers 31 which may be selectively moved into engagement with either of a pair of continuously counter rotating shafts 38, 39 to provide normal forward or reverse drive of the tape. A second pair of rotating shafts 40, 41 and a second set of movable transfer rollers 43 provide fast forward and fast reverse drive. Shafts 38, 39 carry flywheels 45, 35. |
