PURPOSE:To manufacture a tappet provided with good durability and a trend of low cost. CONSTITUTION:A tappet 1 for an engine 1 is manufactured in such a way that an top half part 2a is formed of a low carbon steel (for example JIS SNC 815) having its hardening property by brazing heat treatment in its carburized condition so as to apply carburization to on the top half part 2a, and a bottom half part 2b is formed of a metal (for example JIS SNCM 630) having a hardening property by brazing heat treatment so as to weld it to the carbutized top half part 2a so as to form a tappet main body 2, and then a ceramic plate 3 is brazed on the bottom half part 2b of the tappet main body 2. |
