1,270,994. Rolling mills. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 24 July, 1969 [29 July, 1968], No. 37327/69. Heading B3M. An assembly 10 for spraying a cooling and descaling liquid on to a rolled product includes a frame 11 through which the product passes, the frame being tilted, in response to the position of a looper 34 (Fig. 2), to maintain the liquid spray at right-angles to the product. A frame and looper may be associated with each stand of a continuous mill, the frame being pivoted at 21 to the stand and being pivotable by a motor 23. The liquid, which may be water, passes through the hollow interior of the frame. A compensated position regulator circuit (Fig. 3, not shown) controls each motor 23 in response to two input signals derived respectively from the angular position of a looper and of the frame. Manually adjustable potentiometers in the circuit permit a lead time or delay to be provided in the rotation of the frame, relative to the reaction time of the looper. |
