METHOD OF SWITCHING REVISION PERSONALITY TYPES IN A MOBILE STATION BASED ON A SOFT HANDOFF GAIN

A revision personality type changing method in an MS(Mobile Station) by considering a soft handoff gain is provided to be capable of updating accumulative variables based on the number of BSs(Base Stations) belonging to the same revision group and the number of BSs belonging to different revision groups, in order to determine whether to change a personality type of an MS, thereby ensuring revision interworking between the MS and the BSs. A route update message is received from an MS(302,304). BSs to be added to an active set of the MS and BSs to be removed from the active set are decided on from the update message(306). It is compared whether a revision supported by each BS is the same as the currently set revision of the MS to classify each BS into one group of the same revision group and different revision groups(308). Accumulative variables are updated on the basis of the number of BSs belonging to the same revision group and the number of BSs belonging to the different revision groups(310,312). Based on the variables, personality type changing of the MS is determined(314-324,314-320).
