In an electric cigarette lighter for mounting in a vehicle and having an insert with an electric lighting pellet, a bimetal switch and an opening for receiving the cigarette, the insert is troughshaped and has slots (17, 18, 19) to receive an insulating plate 3 which carries a lighting pellet 4. The cigarette to be lighted is inserted until making contact with pellet 4. Button 6 is then depressed to complete the heating circuit by moving the actuating slide 5. The heat of pellet 4 causes a bimetal spring 8 to release after an interval the slide which is then urged to its original position by a spring (23). |
