Suitable arsenic compounds are arsenic oxides, for example arsenic trioxide (i.e. arsenous acid) and arsenic pentoxide, inorganic arsenites, inorganic arsenates, arsines, for example triphenyl arsine and monobutoxyarsine, and arsenous acid esters, for example trimethylarsenite, tricyclohexylarsenite and triphenylarsenite; suitable polycyano compounds are 1,2,3,4-tetracyanobuta-1,3-diene and derivatives thereof, for example alkali metal salts, alkaline earth metal salts, noble metal salts, amine salts and phenyl derivatives, and tetracyanoquinodimethane, tetracyanoethylene and derivatives thereof. Exemplified compositions comprise tricyclohexylarsenite and tetracyanoethylene (Examples 5 and 10), tricyclohexylarsenite and the sodium salt of tetracyanobutadiene (Examples 6 and 9), arsenous acid and tetracyanoethylene (Example 7) and triphenylarsine and tetracyanoethylene (Example 8). |
