1,207,895. Container closures; stacking containers. VOGEL A.G. 13 Feb., 1968 [14 Feb., 1967], No. 7025/68. Headings B8D and B8T. A tear-open container comprises a body 1 and a tear-off lid 3 which is arranged to engage a lead 1a on the body. A tab (8), Fig. 2 (not shown), preferably ribbed, is used to tear off an edge strip defined by a line of weakness 7, removal of the lid from the body being by means of a flange 9. A groove 10 enables stacking of similar containers whilst a seal 6 may be used which is affixed to the rim of the lid and enables the lid to re-seal effectively. There may be two parallel score lines 7 and the container may have other than a circular cross-section, for example triangular, square, rectangular and elliptical. The body of the container may be made of, for example, tin plate, aluminium, plastics, cardboard or glass whilst the lid is of a tearable material such as aluminium or plastics. There may be a plurality of tear tabs 8. |
