The foil is first etched in a strong chem. etching soln. (NaOH) and then in a weak one (10% HCl, contg. AlCl3) to obtain the required roughening factor. After etching, the foil is treated in a stabilising phosphate and/or borate contng. aqs. soln. The original surface is completely removed from the aluminium sheet by the etching, to give a roughening factor, is not >3. |
