Production of butadiene polymers

Rubbery solid or very viscous butadiene polymers, having more than 85% cis-1,4 structure, are produced by polymerising in a liquid medium, 1,3-butadiene in presence of a new catalyst system comprising: (A) at least one Ni and/or Co compound, (B) a trialkyl aluminium, (C) a hydroquinone (I) in combination with an alpha-trifluorotoluene (II) and/or a penthalophenol (III). (R1, R2, R3, R4 are each H or halogen or R1 + R2 and/or R3 + R4 represent aromatic condensed system(s), R'1, R'2, R'3, R'4, R'5 are each H, halogen, alkyl or fluoroalkyl, X1, X2, X3, X4, X5 are each halogen). Reaction temp. is -30 to +150 degrees C.
