The process involves the decomposition of phosphate containing raw materials with phosphoric acid at raised temp. which results in the formation of a monocalcium-orthophosphate containing mother liquor. The monocalcium orthophosphate is sepd. from the mother liquor and converted to the title cpd. with CaCO3. Preferably the phosphoric acid has a strength of 55-85%. Preferably the temp. is 85-105 degrees C. Preferably, the monocalcium cpd is in a crystalline form and is brought into contact with an aqueous suspn. of CaCO3. Preferably the raw material is apatite or tricalcium phosphate. Advantage lies in purity of product. |
