[Also in Division H1] A machine for punching openings in walls 12a, 12b and 12c of a battery case 12 at a single station comprises punching means 14, 16 and 18 mounted on a support 20, the means 14, 18 which punch the openings in walls 12b and 12c being operable by a double-acting fluid-pressure cylinder 34, and the means 16 which punch the openings in walls 12a being operable by a double-acting fluid-pressure cylinder 36 the means 14, 16, 18 each comprising punch and die holders 22 (or 22<SP>1</SP>), 24 (or 24<SP>1</SP>). The cylinders 34, 36 are operable simultaneously or sequentially. A stripper plate 30 is secured to each die holder 22 (or 22<SP>1</SP>). The battery case is supported in an inverted position on locating bars 60, 62 and brackets 64, 66.</p> |
