<p>Electrolytic cell with mercury cathode has anode pref of titanium or its alloys, covered with conductive inert coating. These are separated by porous partitions, at least part of which are perforated. Partitions may be of halogenated organic polymers (e.g. PTFE) or of mineral composition. Cells are pref. used for electrolysis of aq. solns of alkali metal halides.</p> |
