A fluorinated polymer mixture which is used as a lubricating grease comprises 5 to 50% by weight of a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene having a molecular weight of at least 2000 and containing at least 85% by weight -CF2CF2-units, and from 95 to 50% by weight of a perfluorinated polyether derived from hexafluoropropylene oxide and having a maximum volatility (defined) of 50% at 400 DEG F. and a maximum pour point (defined) of 50 DEG F. The greases are useful at a wide range of temperatures e.g. above 400 DEG F., and are inert to attack by a wide range of reagents.ALSO:A fluorinated polymer mixture comprises 5 to 50% by weight of a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene having a molecular weight of at least 2000 and containing at least 85% by weight -CF2CF2- units, and from 95 to 50% by weight of a perfluorinated polyether derived from hexafluoropropylene oxide and having a maximum volatility (defined) of 50% at 400 DEG F. and a maximum pour point (defined) of 50 DEG F. The perfluorinated polyethers are obtained by the methods described in Specifications 1,038,365, 1,035,574 and 1,000,802, and are oils preferably having molecular weights of 3000 to 13,000. The polymer of tetrafluoroethylene may be a telomer of tetrafluoroethylene and trichlorofluoroethane. |
