1,195,380. Tape cassettes. T. SOTANI. 27 Oct., 1967 [29 Oct., 1966 (2); 8 Aug., 1967], No. 49021/67. Heading G5R. Spools 13, 14 of a tape cassette 1 have their spindles movable in arcuate slots 8 and interconnected by links 9 providing the spindle bearings 10, 11. Drive mechanism.-Drive rollers 22, 23 are carried by pivoted arms 24, 25 urged together by spring-biased levers 28, 29 carrying rollers 30, 31 selectively engagable by a cam slide 39 to engage the drive rollers 22, 23 with associated capstans 16, 17 belt-driven 19 by a roller 18, a further roller 26 being located between capstan 16 and roller 22 to reverse the drive. As shown, roller 22 presses tape roll 13 against roller 23, in turn pressed against capstant 17 to feed the tape at constant speed. Movement of slide 39 leftwards effects rewind. In a modification (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) a single spring-biased roller (46) engages one tape coil to press the other against a single capstan (44), the cassette being removed from guides (40<SP>1</SP>, 41) and inverted for rewinding. |
