[Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical preparations having uricosuric action comprise compounds of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each hydrogen or a C,-g alkyl group (e.g ethyl), or non-toxic salts thereof, and a carrier or excipient. The preparations are preferably in a form adapted to oral administration, e.g. tablets, pills, capsules, dragees, cachets, syrups, suspensions, elixirs or emulsions, containing conventional solid or liquid excipients, but may also be in the form of suppositories for rectal administration or sterile solutions for injection. The compounds are used in the treatment of gout, hyperuricaemia and athritic rheumatism or as adjuvant medicines in penicillin or p-aminosalicylic acid therapy, to inhibit excretion of these medicines. |
