Lead alkyl extraction from solvents

Extraction of a lead alkyl from soln. in an org. solvent in a wholly org. system is effected by using as extractant a liquid 5-18C aliphatic hydrocarbon which is immiscible with the organic solvent. Thus Pb alkyl can be extracted from org. solvents used in electrolytic processes for producing such cpds. and such processes may be effected continuously. Organic solvents include e.g. DMF and acetonitrile. Extraction solvents are pref. 6-12C aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g. hexane is esp. useful for extracting tetraethyl lead from DMF or CH3CN.
