1,180,853. Dye salts. CIBA Ltd. 25 Jan., 1968 [25 Jan., 1967], No. 3965/68. Heading C4P. The invention comprises crystalline dye salts formed from a basic dye and a complex metal compound of an azo dye free from sulphonic acid groups and also carboxylic acid groups not in o-position to an azo group and which contains a sulphonic acid-N-alkoxyalkylamide group. The metal complexes are preferably 2: 1 chromium or cobalt complexes, the dyes being o,o<SP>1</SP>-dihydroxy-, or o-hydroxy-o<SP>1</SP>-aminoazo dyes, the N-alkoxyalkyl group preferably containing at least 5 carbon atoms and the alkoxy part thereof 1 to 8 carbon atoms. Basic dyes used which are preferably free from sulphonic acid groups include xanthene, di- or tri-aryl methane, azo, thiazine, azine or oxazine dyes. They are prepared by addition at room temperature or with heating optionally in presence of an organic solvent, or by metallizing the azo dyestuff in presence of the basic dyestuff. They are used to dye or colour natural or synthetic resins, waxes, lacquers, plastic compositions of cellulose ethers or esters and for paper, polyamides and polyurethanes. |
