<p>PURPOSE:To provide a long-life cold cathode with less fluctuation in current emission. CONSTITUTION:A cold cathode comprises a thin dielectric film 4, a thin insulating film 3 provided on one surface of the thin dielectric film 4, a first electrode 5 provided on the other surface of the thin dielectric film 4, and a second electrode 2 provided on the opposite side to the thin dielectric film 3 of the thin insulating film 3. The thin dielectric film 4 contains a sulfide, oxide or arsenide capable of generating hot electrons, and the thin insulating film 3 contains an insulating material and a semiconductor material of high resistance. The first electrode 5 is a metal film, and the second electrode 2 is a metal oxide such as ITO.</p> |
