<p>PURPOSE: To provide a thermo-insulating mat with a prescribed elastic force, and when it is wound around a cylindrical surface of a tank or the like, to prevent it from causing damage such as a crack by forming it by using mineral fibers of a specific diameter and length so as to have a specific density. CONSTITUTION: This thermo-insulating mat 1 is formed of mineral fibers such as glass fibers the large majority of which have a diameter of between 2.5 and 4.5μm and a length of 2 to 15 cm, and it possesses a density of not more than 40 Kg/m<3> . In the compression of 10%, it has a compressive resistance equal to at least 0.5 kN/m<3> , and also a heat conductivity of 0.040 W.mK or less. When such a thermo-insulating mat 1 passes through a plurality of regions Ia to IIa consisting of a pair of conveyors 2 to 4, 2' to 4' respectively, it is formed by receiving longitudinal compression and contraction, and is transferred to a binder furnace (not shown) through a pair of conveyors 5, 5' to be completed as a product.</p> |
