Rolling mill hot roll comprises two layers, centrifugally cast, the first comprising by wt. a high percentage of Cr (25-33%) and 2.4-3% C 0.6-1% Si, 0.6-1% Mn, 0.5-1% Ni, O or 0.2-1% V together with 1.5-3.5% Mo and/or 1.5-4% W. The second layer or core may be grey iron, malleable, nodular or spheroidal cast iron or steel. Alloy has greater resistance to annealing so that an increased life can be obtained at temps. up to 500 degrees C.
