[Also in Division B8] A device for storing hats between shaperetaining formers and within a container comprises a base 10, Fig. 2, having a depression 18, shaped to receive the brim of a hat 14, and defining a central boss 16 for closely receiving the crown of the hat, and a tubular former 20 arranged to fit closely over the crown of the hat and on to the junction 28 of the crown and brim. The former 20 has a brim-shaped flange 24, upon which is placed another hat 14, the upper end of the former fitting within the crown. Several hats may be stored in a pile, Fig. 3, upon successive formers 20 and within a cylindrical case 36. The topmost hat, however is given a tubular cover 54, completely enclosing the crown which is arranged to fit into a recess 58 in the cover 48 of the case 36. The case has an inner longitudinal projection 60 against which the formers 20 rest when the case is carried by a handle 42. The formers have either an indentation 30, Fig. 2, or a similarly shaped aperture, for accommodating the bow of the hatband The formers may be of a plastics material. |
