Sour whey or other suitable waste liquid such as buttermilk, molasses, fish drainings or residual vine liquor is first concentrated. To the concentrate is added albumen, more particularly vegetable albumen, water-soluble rice starch in disintegrated form, fat and any desired additives such that the mixture is capable of being dried-without special precautions in normal spray drying and roller drying plant. Soya flour can be used as the vegetable albumen with a concentrate of whey to make a cheap substitute for skimmed milk. |
